Fan Style / Convection Oven

 

Belco manufactures two styles of shrink tunnels to complement every level of shrink film sealer available to our industry. These tunnels will handle all commercially available shrink films, including polyethylene. From production speeds of five up to 150 packages per minute, there is a Belco tunnel suitable for your application.

We introduce the product line with our fan style tunnels, which are Models ST 1808, ST 2108 and the ST 3010. These models are rated for production speeds of 5-25 packages per minute or 500,000 to 2,600,000 packages per year. (Based upon one 8-hour shift).

 

 

The tunnel temperature is regulated by a Watlow 988 microprocessor based controller. The hot air is directed about the shrink chamber by use of fan blade wheels, which are placed within the footprint of the square shaped heater elements. The hot air "washes" or "scrubs" the shrink film surrounding your product to quietly balloon the film and then tightly shrink to the contours of the package.

Chamber sizes range from 18" Wide x 8" High x 24" Long for the ST 1808 to 21" Wide x *" High x 36" Long for the ST 2108 and 30" Wide x 10" High x 48" Long for the ST 3010.
Optional extended heights are available for taller packages.

Whenever the package dimension comes within 2" of any chamber wall, seek factory advice. The concern is the shrink film contacting the chamber surface during the ballooning process. Typically, the next size shrink chamber will be recommended, but not without careful evaluation.

All tunnels are available with conveyor choices of Teflon mesh belt, silicone rubber sleeved live rod/rollers or Falcon belt style conveyors.

The rule of thumb is Teflon mesh belts handle light products up to five pounds, the rod conveyor is for heavier products up to 25 pounds, as well as applications where aesthetics are critical and the Falcon belt is for your heaviest packages and shrink polyethylene films.

Option are available to best meet the demands of your application such as Lighted Viewing Window (except ST 1808), specific voltages and extended infeed or exit conveyor lengths. All tunnels are available with stainless steel construction for typical food plant wipe-down environments.

"Re-circulating Air" Models

Two styles of shrink tunnels make up the product line: our “Fan Style / Convection Oven” tunnels and our industry leading “Re-circulating Air” models.

 

 

The Re-circulating Air product line consists of ten models and seven sizes which are the ST1608, ST1608-SS, ST1612, ST1608L, ST1608L-SS, ST2210, ST2210-SS, ST2214, ST3212 and the ST4410. These models are rated for production speeds of 5-40 packages per minute or 500,000 to 4,000,000 packages per year. (Based upon one 8-hour shift).

These tunnels utilize the Watlow 988 microprocessor based digital temperature controller and multiple “fin-strip” heating elements in combination with a forced air flow design. This air delivery pattern allows the precise application of hot air directly to the film as your product is conveyed through the shrink chamber. You have the ability to pattern the airflow, allowing it to contact the film wherever you select. The results are the best possible shrink, even for difficult shapes.

Re-circulating air tunnel chamber sizes range from 16” Wide up to 44" Wide and have various standard height openings available. Whenever the package dimension comes within 2" of any chamber wall, seek factory advice. The concern is the shrink film contacting the inside chamber surface during the film ballooning process. Typically, the next size shrink chamber will be recommended, but not without careful evaluation.

Our patent pending “Smart Tunnel” control system can be installed into all ten models for applications requiring repeatable and absolute shrink quality, seal placement, speed or aesthetics. The PLC with color operator touch-screen controls air velocity, tunnel temperature and conveyor speed as well as stores up to 100 product recipes so you can make fast and accurate change overs.

Tunnels with the "SS" in their description (ST1608-SS) are built with stainless steel construction and are suitable for typical food plant wipe-down environments.

Wear items are minimal on these units. You can schedule preventative maintenance when it is convenient. You won’t experience expensive delays to productivity because of normal wear and tear issues.

 

High Speed "Re-circulating Air" Models

From production speeds of five up to 150 packages per minute, there is a Belco tunnel suitable for your application.

Our industry leading High Speed Re-circulating Air shrink tunnel line consists of four models, the ST1608HS, ST1608HS-SS, ST2210HS and the ST2210HS-SS. Use this style tunnel where the application calls for absolute shrink quality, seal control, speed or aesthetics. These models are rated for production speeds of 40 - 150 packages per minute or 2,000,000 to 15,500,000 packages per year. (Based upon one 8-hour shift).

 

 

These machines feature extended length dual tunnel chambers with two Watlow 988 microprocessor based temperature controls to eliminate temperature fluctuations within the tunnel. Twin 1-HP blower motors work in combination with "fin-strip" heating elements to create a forced air flow in each separate chamber. Independent air flow controls located at the entrance and exit ends of the tunnel can be adjusted to deliver air flow to the top, bottom and each side of your package as it travels through the tunnel chambers. You have the complete ability to pattern the airflow and select where hot air contacts the film. Maximum production flexibility and ultimate productivity are designed into these high speed shrink tunnels so you get the best shrink results, even for difficult shapes.
