Project Overview:

A major food manufacturing company made an inquiry for a new case packing project. After reviewing the project, the focus then developed into a complete End-of-Line solution. The customer was looking for a robust solution that used simple automation that would not require a large technical staff to operate. By using proven methods of case packing and palletizing the customer was comfortable with awarding Brenton the project.

The Customer Challenge:

This company wanted to implement the end-of-line automation to fully automate the entire packaging process. The challenge was to fit two complete lines into an existing space that one line existed. With Brenton’s on-site engineering staff we developed a flow of products that fit within the space allowing for the desired automation. With this extra effort onsite design, we were able to prove to the customer that Brenton was the right partner for this project.  This solution included two complete lines of case packing, labeling, shrink bundling, conveyance and palletizing systems. Brenton was chosen to provide the system so the customer could rely on one company to be responsible for line integration.

EOL Solution:

  • Brenton Mach-2 Tray Packer
  • Tekkra Shrink System
  • Currie by Brenton High Level Infeed Palletizer

Brenton supplied an End of Line Packaging System designed to load cans into trays, operating at speeds up to 500 cans per minute, shrink wrap trays, palletize and stretch wrap.

MACH-2 TRAY PACKER

Trays are formed by the BrentonPro Mach-2 Tray Packer. Cans are conveyed to the tray packer via a flood feed style infeed which meter the cans to form the pack pattern. Once the pattern is formed, the cans are loaded into the tray via a servo driven cross push system. The tray is then finished formed and glued via all servo movements of the Mach-2 Tray Packer.  After the trays are loaded, they discharge onto an incline belt conveyor and are delivered to the Tekkra Film Wrap & Shrink Machine.

TEKKRA SHRINK SYSTEM

Trays arrive single file and pace through the multi-staged in-feed conveyor section and advance into the system and through the film overwrap station and onto the discharge conveyor.  After the sleeve of film is applied, the trays enter the tunnel.  The tunnel conveyor moves the bundles through the high efficiency bottom air dual zone heat chamber and heated air circulates around the bundles to shrink the film in a uniform manner. Bundles exit the chamber and pass through the cooling station.

CURRIE BY BRENTON® HIGH LEVEL INFEED PALLETIZER

Bundles are pushed one row at a time from the row forming area onto the layer accumulation area to create individual layers. When a row of product accumulates in the row forming area, the bundle conveyor shuts off and the row of bundles are pushed sideways into the layer accumulation area. After the last row of bundles are pushed onto the layer accumulation area, they pushed on top of the stripper plate which then opens and the layer settles on top of the load below.
